Referral Service

The Woodstock Veterinary Clinic has on staff an ACVIM board certified internal medicine specialist.

Dr. Charles Carmichael is able to offer consultations, advanced diagnostics and treatment involving medical problems particularly related to the heart/lung, the gastrointestinal tract, the urinary system, endocrine diseases, blood disorders and cancer.

Dr. Carmichael appreciates the opportunity to consult on these medical cases and understands that often clients have traveled a significant distance for this service. Because of this it is important that close communication be maintained with your referring veterinarian.

This is accomplished through phone calls, as well as timely written reports that include problem assessment and recommendations for additional diagnostics, treatment and follow-up care. Depending on the individual case some of these recommendations may be able to be accomplished by your referring veterinarian while in other situations they would be best managed at our facility.

In order to make the consultation more useful and efficient, it is recommended that copies of all pertinent laboratory tests, radiographs and medical history be brought along for review at the time of the visit. In addition it is recommended that your pet have food withheld for 12 hours prior to the visit in case a procedure or further testing is deemed necessary.
